In Major League Baseball action on September 30, 1934, at the Polo Grounds in the New York City borough of Manhattan, the Brooklyn Dodgers defeat National League rival the New York Giants, 8-5. The game ended the season for both teams. The Giants lost their last five games of the season and finished two games out of first place in the National League. The first-place National League team, the St. Louis Cardinals, went on to win the 1934 World Series.
